The Västra Götaland region has now started with antibody tests for, among other things, hospital staff.
In a couple of weeks, starting in week 40, the public will be able to book and test for antibodies against covid-19.
Anyone who wants to book an antibody test will be able to do so through a special website with information on which health centers and hospitals offer the service.
– The sampling of municipal health personnel and users has begun, which will gradually expand in the coming weeks. Then we open ourselves to the public, says Ann Söderström, director of health and medical care, in a press release.
A little more than 19,000 patients in total
As of September 6, the Västra Götaland region had performed just over 42,000 antibody tests on patients and healthcare professionals.
As of this week, the tests have been expanded to also include healthcare personnel who work in the municipality as well as users of special housing and home care services.
As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, 19,091 people had tested positive for COVID-19 in Västra Götaland.
During week 36, the number of new COVID-19,295 cases was slightly higher than in previous weeks but significantly lower than at the beginning of the summer.
The Infection Control Doctor: “Stay Home”
The number of people who must be treated for the disease in hospitals is also steadily decreasing in the Västra Götaland region.
On Thursday morning, 39 people were treated in one of the covid-19 hospitals in the region, five of them in IVA.
– We must continue to prevent the spread of infection. If you have respiratory symptoms or other symptoms of Covid-19, you should stay home and contact your health center to obtain a sample. It is no less important now, when we return to workplaces and schools after the summer, to avoid infecting the people around us, says Thomas Wahlberg, infection control physician, Infection Control Västra Götaland, in the press release.
