Former Vice Chancellor of the Karolinska Institutet, Karin Dahlman-Wright, is convicted after committing investigative fraud, reports Läkartidningen.

A decision by the Board for the Review of Research Misconduct (NPOF) states that the postings of images in four articles in which Dahlman-Wright has been a co-author or corresponding author are to be considered tampering and that, within the meaning of the law , constitute forgeries.

According to NPOF, the former vice chancellor has also been grossly negligent in view of his long experience in research.

Suspicions of cheating emerged in 2018 after the Karolinska Institutet in Solna received reports of ten scientific papers. The University of Gothenburg was hired to investigate the suspicions and last year it held Karin Dahlman-Wright responsible in one of the articles where the dishonesty occurred. She then resigned from her post as deputy director of the Karolinska Institutet with immediate effect.

According to Läkartidningen, Karin Dahlman-Wright declines to comment on the board’s decision.
