Mikael Petersson has been missing since July 25. There was an initial suspicion that she had been the victim of a crime.
The case was initially classified as an alleged kidnapping and the police hoped to find Mikael alive during the search.
But as the days passed, the suspicion grew that he had been killed. Prosecutor Anna Johansson also chose to reclassify the disappearance as murder.
Two younger men were arrested and are in custody. They both have a connection to Mikael through the business they had together.
Denies the crime
The 57-year-old is said to have helped with a renovation and also with money to pay off debts.
But both have denied the crime since their arrest.
They have only admitted that they met Mikael for a short time the day before a relative reported him missing.
According to unconfirmed information, the police must have found Mikael’s blood both in an apartment and in a small open boat that both men were seen using in connection with the disappearance.
Over the past week, the police searched with the help of the navy and the coast guard large areas of the Karlskrona archipelago.
Worked all day
According to police communicator Thomas Johansson, there were areas both at sea and on land.
Navy personnel worked twenty-four hours a day from their ships.
– A series of findings were made that were taken for analysis. But we still can’t say if something can be linked to Mikael’s disappearance, he says.
This week, the search continues without the presence of the Navy. The Coast Guard, about 20 Missing Persons and police personnel are on the scene.
– But we will make a new request for help from the Navy. From the police side, there is no remote limit for when the app should end. We want to get this done, says Thomas Johansson.
Later this week, special police search dogs will be deployed again. They search from boats and can smell a dead person through the water.
