The Ombudsman, JO, has now decided to initiate an initiative case against the Public Ministry “investigate certain issues of legal certainty in relation to the prosecutor’s report when a named person, who has been dead for several years, was identified as a suspect in the murder”.
– The prosecutor’s statements raise doubts as to whether the suspect’s interests were taken into account at the press conference and whether the circumstances that spoke in favor of the suspect were sufficiently highlighted. I have made the limits of my investigation clear and this is not a review of the entire preliminary investigation, Ombudsman Per Lennerbrant says in a press release.
You should not investigate why the preliminary investigation was dropped
This means that the Ombudsman will not investigate either the fact that Stig Engström, according to Krister Petersson, is a suspect in the murder, that the preliminary investigation has been dropped or how it was carried out over the years.
By November 16, the Public Ministry must have responded to JO.
