The crime took place in Ölstens, west of Porvoo, during the night of August 24-25, 2019.

According to the prosecutor Saarinen, one of the men called the emergency center and stated that he and his brother had arrested a suspected car thief in an industrial area of ​​Ölstens for a single man.

Denies the crime

During the chase, the brothers fired about twenty shots at the police and drove at more than 150 kilometers per hour, according to police testimony in the preliminary report.

Parts of the hunt were captured by surveillance cameras.

Prosecutor Laura Saarinen believes that the brothers intended to kill the police officers.

The brothers deny it, but admit the crime with firearms and violent opposition to the official, according to Yle.

In other respects, they should not have been more involved in the investigation. To most of the questions from the interrogators, they answered “no comment” or sat quietly.

Following the prosecutor’s error in the accusation, the trial has been postponed for ten days.
