On Monday night the league final was played at Superettan in Örjans Vall, between the first Degerfors and the second Halmstad, who had the same number of points before the game.

After half an hour of play, Villiam Dahlström kept the lead thanks to Erik Lindell’s tackle into the Halmstad penalty area and pushed Degerfors 1-0.

Ten minutes after the second half, Dahlström extended Degerfors’ lead. After Johan Bertilsson pushed into the Halmstad penalty area, he found Dahlström unmarked at the penalty spot that could easily make Degerfors 2-0.

The 3-0 goal came just seven minutes later. With a post, Markus Astvald found Bertilsson in the penalty area, who in the pass managed to splice Degerfors 3-0 behind Malkolm Nilsson in the Halmstads goal.

Halmstad managed to reduce the penalty with a quarter to play, after Oliver Ekroth dropped Rasmus Wiedesheim-Paul in his own box. Wiedesheim-Paul himself approached the penalty spot and did it safely. The great talent made it 3-1 with his ninth goal of the season at Superettan.

But Degerfors would have time to score another goal before the final whistle sounded. In the 95th minute, Halmstads’ Nilsson fell dramatically outside the penalty area. Astvald then passed to José Segura Bonilla, who scored an open goal almost from midfield and made it 4-1 on an open goal.

With the victory, Degerfors rises to the only league lead in the Superettan. Värmlänningarna now has 34 points from 16 matches, while Halmstad retains second place with 31 points. Next, table three J-Södra awaits Degerfors at home, while Halmstad faces table runner-up AFC Eskilstuna.
