Phil Foden, 20, and Mason Greenwood, 18, violated the English national team rules regarding the corona virus and were sent home from the national team collection.

Icelandic DV was the first to report that the players in question had two women visit the players’ hotel and that they had therefore violated the crown rules.

However, during Monday’s press conference, England captain Gareth Southgate did not want to go into detail about the fact that two women were visiting.

– We are still collecting information on this because I was made aware of this only a couple of hours before training, so I am still trying to control the details. What is clear is that there has been a violation of the guidelines for covid-19, Southgate said.

Foden and Greenwood’s actions were later condemned by the players’ respective clubs, Manchester City and Manchester United.

“The behavior is far from what we expect from a Manchester City player,” City wrote, among other things.

Now the duo are also being punished by the Icelandic police. For Sky Sports, Icelandic police confirmed that the duo will be fined 250,000 Icelandic crowns, almost 16,000 Swedish crowns, each after violating the country’s crown rules.
