Shortly after 01:00 on Sunday night, a loud bang was heard on a staircase in Hagalund.

– Many of those who heard the coup left the house voluntarily, but were able to return a few hours later after the national bomb squad was able to establish that it was safe to return, says Carina Skagerlind, a police spokeswoman.

Police evacuated and cordoned off around the house. Bomb technicians were on the scene well into Sunday morning to find out what caused the loud blast.

A preliminary investigation into the general destruction has been launched.

– There are some things that indicate that it may be a hand grenade, but it is not completely established, says Carina Skagerlind.

Police are working on multiple leads, but cannot say if there are any suspects at this time. No person is said to have been injured in connection with the explosion.
