John McEnroe says Novak Djokovic is marked for the rest of his career.

The 32-year-old Serbian was washed at the US Open after hitting a linesman with the ball.

– He’ll still be the bad boy of tennis, says John McEnroe.

One who knows what it’s like to live more like the bad boy of tennis is John McEnroe.

The 61-year-old American comments on the scandal in the round of 16 at the US Open, at Flushing Meadows in New York.

– Sucks, to sum up the event. 2020 has become so difficult for so many people, people are going through hell, when they thought something crazier couldn’t happen, it happens. Before the tournament we talked about how the only one who could stop Novak Djokovic was himself, I couldn’t in my wildest imagination believe this would happen. “It’s terrible for everyone,” John McEnroe told ESPN.

“A rookie mistake”

The world point guard expressed his frustration at losing a game against Pablo Carreño Busta by hitting a ball away. He hit a linesman in the throat and Novak Djokovic was disqualified from the US Open, fined and returned the prize money won of $ 250,000 (2.2 million crowns).

– It was a rookie mistake to hit a ball backwards without looking, it’s a big risk. I know from experience that you have to be careful out there. It’s amazing how frustrated he has been since he returned from the hardships he went through. He finally got his game in order, played some amazing tennis here at night, then he does this. I think he’s been pressured, I think a lot has happened on the sidelines and it’s obviously affected him, says John McEnroe.

Dished against Pernfors

The American tennis legend himself was dealt at the Australian Open in 1990 after unsportsmanlike conduct in the fourth round.

John McEnroe was 2-1 on set but fell behind in the fourth set at 4-2 against Mikael Pernfors. He then insulted a lineman, broke a racket and got into a fight and humiliated the referee, referee and tournament referee.

– Whether Novak Djokovic likes it or not, he will be a bad guy for the rest of his career. It will be interesting to see how he handles it, says John McEnroe.

Fell to the ground

The linesman screamed, collapsed and had difficulty breathing, after medical treatment she is said to be fine.

Novak Djokovic had lost a game on his own serve, which meant Spain’s Pablo Carreño Busta led 6-5 in the first set.

Additionally, Novak Djokovic loses his earned ranking points, pursued his 18th Grand Slam title in the absence of Roger Federer (20 titles) and Rafael Nadal (19 titles).

“I should have stayed”

Novak Djokovic later fled in a car without speaking to the media, but last night he apologized on social media.

Former British top scorer Greg Rusedski believes Novak Djokovic might have behaved differently after the situation.

“It was the correct decision according to the rules, whether with intention or not. He should have stayed for the press conference and apologized. We must take responsibility for our actions no matter how difficult the situation,” wrote Greg Rusedski in Twitter
