Daniel Ståhl won the discus competition in Chorzow, Poland with a throw of 67.28.

After a nightmare day.

– But I was still able to sleep a couple of hours after Finnkampen, says Ståhl.

Daniel Ståhl was supposed to have stayed in Finland after Finnkampen and had taken a direct flight from Helsinki to Krakow, Poland, on Sunday morning.

But the agreement of the Swedish Athletics Association with the Finnish authorities was that all Swedes had to fly to Stockholm after the competition in Tampere. Exceptions were not allowed.

– I tried to stay, but it didn’t work. Now it was just a matter of changing the reservation. I went to a hotel in Arlanda and slept for a couple, three hours before it was time to get up at 3.30 in the morning and fly to Krakow via Copenhagen, Ståhl tells Sportbladet.

– I arrived at twelve o’clock and after eating something it was basically to change and go to the sand. So the goal here was to win and stay undefeated this summer. So I’m happy, even if the result is like this. But it was only to make the best of the situation.

He was now a little more than meters ahead of Slovenian giant Kristjan Ceh and won quite easily. Despite the lack of sleep.

New world number two

At the same time, the album has a new world number two, when Colombian Mauricio Ortega got his 70.29 from a competition in Portugal on July 22 approved again.

Ecuadorian Juan Caicedo is also back in fourth place in the best statistics of the world year with his throw of 69.20 from the same competition.

Those results have been highly questioned and removed just days after their arrival.

But now they are again approved and included in the official statistics.

– Yes, I heard that, but I don’t know why, says Daniel Ståhl.

This means that Simon Pettersson, with his best annual record of 67.72, falls two places to eighth place in the world this year. Simon who was not in the competition in Chorzow, but is back and pitches in Ostrava on Tuesday.

Daniel Ståhl is on an intense competition schedule at the moment.

On Saturday, Finnkampen won with a throw of 69.20 and competes again already on Tuesday in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

– I’ll go there tomorrow and try to find a gym and get some energy in my body, he says.

It will be the third competition in four days.

That is a record in itself.
