BÅSTAD. “Masters of the Masters” suffers another desertion.

Anders Hedberg cannot compete in the SVT competition program for health reasons.

– We have replacements underway, but it is not yet clear. We don’t have a reserve list on our show, so it takes some time, says Anders Wistbacka, project manager for the show.

Just one day after Jan Boklöv was unexpectedly forced to leave “Mästarnas mästare”, it is clear that SVT will lose another participant. This is also due to health reasons.

Ice hockey legend Anders Hedberg, 69, is unable to compete in SVT’s popular competition program, announces project manager Anders Wistbacka.

He is not opposed to doctors

– For health reasons, Anders Hedberg has been forced to resign on the advice of a doctor. Doctors have found that he has very few red blood cells, so he is not allowed to participate, says Wistbacka.

– If the doctors say no, we don’t say no.

Now SVT is forced to take panic measures to get to the next season of “Masters of the Masters”. There is no replacement for Anders Hedberg yet, but SVT is working feverishly to call in the right sports profiles who, on short notice, could go to Båstad to participate in the filming.

No reserve list

– We have replacements underway, but it is not yet clear. We don’t have a reserve list on our program, so it takes some time, says Anders Wistbacka.

Anders Hedberg would have already been in the first group of competitors and was among the participants whose competitions started on Thursday, but was therefore forced to leave at the last minute. Back jumper Jan Boklöv would have also competed in the first group, but there SVT announced yesterday that he had to leave.

Boklöv replaced on Thursday

– I accept the decisions made. The basis of the decision is my epilepsy. Health should come first, no matter how much fun it is to participate in the Masters champions, Boklöv said in a press release.

Boklöv was quickly replaced by SVT’s expert commentator and former biathlete Fredrik Lindström.

But the defections have caused SVT to change the lineups. In place to compete in the first group are now cross country skier Johan Olsson, speed skier Sanna Tidstrand and soccer player Frida Östberg along with tennis player Johanna Larsson and volleyball player Bengt Gustafsson.

The second group to compete in “Masters of the Masters” will consist of swimmer Therese Alshammar, slalom skier André Myhrer, handball player Linnea Torstenson and biathlete Fredrik Lindström along with another participant still unclear.
