Oscar Properties is suing the city of Stockholm, again

Crisis-stricken Oscar Properties (OP) designed a prestigious new building on Norra Djurgårdsstaden in Stockholm. A 90 meter high tower with about 300 apartments.

But the air left the luxury real estate market and the project stalled.

The city of Stockholm wanted to pay for the land, but the construction company said it had to be cleared first. Eventually the city got tired and fired Oscar Properties, who responded by suing Stockholm.

OP demanded SEK 169 million, money that has so far been spent on the project. But the district court rejected the lawsuit on technicalities.

You want to continue with the project

Now the construction company is suing the city of Stockholm again, for the same amount. The lawsuit was received on Monday, writes DN. At the same time, the company awaits an out-of-court settlement.

– The most natural thing would be for the city to say that we are clearing the land and then we can continue with this project. The most profitable thing is not that we should receive damages, but that they are used for the project, Oscar Properties lawyer PG Jönsson tells DN.

However, the City of Stockholm has no such plans, according to Staffan Lorentz, Norra Djurgårdsstaden’s project manager at the Stockholm City Development Office:

– The city must have a clear line against the actors who do not perform in accordance with the agreements. Then no, we will enforce our agreements. Now the land is still in our possession and the city wants to develop that property. So now we are running a tender to find a player who wants to carry out the project.
