The league claims that Lionel Messi’s release clause still applies.
Now the father and agent of the Argentine, Jorge Messi, has issued a statement in which he writes that such a clause does not exist.
Lionel Messi has asked to leave Barcelona. That is done.
But on Thursday there was an unexpected change. Argentine news channel TyC Sports later declared that there is a “90 percent chance that Messi will stay.”
A day later, on Friday afternoon, the site announced that Lionel Messi is fulfilling his contract, which expires on June 30, 2021.
“He has changed and does not want to leave the club in the middle of a legal scandal,” they write.

At the same time, Lionel Messi’s father, also an agent, Jorge Messi has issued a statement questioning a possible termination clause of around 7.2 billion, which LaLiga has stated that the club that wants to hire Lionel Messi must pay Barcelona.
Now he ensures that Lionel Messi will be able to go free.
“We do not know which contract (La Liga) have reviewed and on what they base a possible termination clause. This with a termination clause of 700 million euros must be directly wrong on their part,” he says in the statement according to The Guardian.
