The Swedish Football Association has received harsh criticism from women and men who do not receive equal compensation on the national team.
Emil Forsberg now reveals that change is on the way.
– We have had a meeting and will probably be communicated soon, he says.
The anti-discrimination ombudsman stated that the Swedish Football Association does not discriminate against the remuneration of the women’s national team. This means that the association is under no obligation to give the women’s national team the same compensation as the men’s team.
“Gender equality is something we must all fight for. The fact that the DO did not judge that the compensation model was discriminatory does not mean that it is the same. Gender equality is also part of SvFF’s values, “Asllani writes in a post on Instagram.

“It is not a question”
Now change can happen anyway. At today’s press conference, Emil Forsberg revealed that the men’s national team discussed the issue during this week’s national team meeting and now the agreements appear to be the same.
– We have discussed it for a long time and we have always strived to achieve it. It’s obvious to me that it should be the same, it’s not even a question, he says and continues:
– I have not always attended those meetings because I am not the captain, the vice captain or the third captain, but we have sat down in the team and discussed it. We wanted it to be like this.
So will it be like this?
– We have had a meeting and will communicate.
So will Kosovar Asllani soon get as much as Emil Forsberg when she plays for the national team?
– I hope so.
