“Stop the damn stick or I’ll nail it to you.”
During an intervention in Angered, the police were quickly surrounded and threatened by serious criminals.
Now the police demand better protection in order to do their job.
A guy on a moped was stopped by the police in Gothenburg. Twenty seconds later, a dozen men, several of them known to criminal gangs in the area, suddenly stopped and surrounded police, reports TV4.
The film shows how the men take full control of the situation and fail to respond to repeated calls from the police to back down.
One of the policemen raises his baton.
– If you move with that, you’ll come back. We do not care. Stop the fucking stick or I’ll nail it, one of the men is heard saying.
The situation only calmed down when the police received reinforcements. It is now suspected that at least one of the men threatened an official.
More personal threats
The incident took place in April 2019. But gang crime in Gothenburg in general and Angered in particular has escalated in recent times.
Erik Nord, Chief of Police for Greater Gothenburg, says that the threat against the police has consequences.
– One or two interventions are not made because you do not want to expose yourself to the risk of being exposed to violence or simply getting bored that way, he tells TV4.
The president of the police union, Katharina von Sydow, claims that threats against the police have recently become more personal and are increasingly directed at the police employee’s family.
You want to arrest anonymously
The union now wants the police to be able to intervene completely anonymously. That is, without having to identify yourself with your name and social security number.
Aftonbladet has previously reported on the conflict between the two Backagänget criminal groups and the Ali Khan family network.
Criminals in Gothenburg, among other things, have barricaded “their” areas, to control who enters and leaves.
