The doors of the Pascha brothel in Cologne, Germany, have been closed since last spring due to the new corona virus.
– We are at the end, says Armin, owner of the ten-story brothel in the center of Cologne, to the local newspaper Express.
Before the pandemic, around 120 people worked as prostitutes in the brothel, which also had 60 other employees in, among other things, restaurant operations. Due to the new coronavirus and anti-infection measures, none of them have been able to work for months.
In the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, where Cologne is located, prostitution has been illegal for infection control reasons since the start of the pandemic. No end date has been set for the action.
– We couldn’t plan. We could have avoided bankruptcy with the help of the banks if they had told us we could reopen after the turn of the year, says Armin.
