Super Mario turns 35 today and has so far been celebrated with a number of different collaborations with, among others, Hasbro and LEGO, but of course there will be some festivities on the video game front. Nintendo released a new Direct video today and this time it focused entirely on Super Mario.
The big news is, in short, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, where Nintendo has brought together Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy in one package. The games have been remastered and run at a higher resolution than the original versions, but they will offer the same wonderful gameplay that we learned to love. The collection will launch on September 18 for Nintendo Switch.
Super Mario 3D World will also make its debut on Switch in the future. The game, which was released in 2013 for Wii U, comes to Switch with slightly improved graphics and a new expansion called Bowser’s Fury. Super Mario 3D World should be playable alone or with friends, both co-op from the couch and online. The game will launch on Switch on February 12, 2021.
Game & Watch returns in November with a version of Super Mario. In the new console you can enjoy the classic Super Mario Bros., the original sequel to Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels and an updated version of Game & Watch: Ball where Mario will catch balls. The device can also double as a digital watch, and according to Nintendo, it should have 35 unique details that make the watch experience a bit more fun. The new Game & Watch unit will launch on November 13 and the launch appears to be a limited edition.
Mario Kart enters the real world with Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit. The game is a version of Mario Kart that allows you to drive radio controlled cars on a virtual track at home and the car is controlled with your Switch console. Nintendo describes it all this way:
The physical kart responds to impulses in game and in the real world, it stops when struck by an object and can be affected in different ways depending on the race. Players place gates to create a custom field layout in their home, where the only limit is their imagination. Compete against Koopalings in Grand Prix, unlock a variety of field and costume customizations for Mario or Luigi, and play with up to four players in local multiplayer.
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit will launch on October 16 and comes in Mario and Luigi versions. Each one will be priced at $ 100.
