In Denmark, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has recently increased. For every 100,000 inhabitants, 12.2 are infected, while in Sweden there are 11.1 infected.
On Thursday, 173 cases of infection were reported in one day in Denmark according to DR. This is the highest figure since April 22, according to the Swedish Serum Institute.
– This is a figure clearly higher than what we have seen daily for the last two weeks. It’s a pretty sudden change, Henrik Nielsen, a professor at Aalborg University, tells TT.
31 of the new cases come from the municipality of Odense, which has been affected by a virus outbreak in a teacher training program. Over a thousand students have been sent home and will be taught online.
They are tested significantly more
Based on the DR figures, it is clear that Denmark evaluates significantly more people than Sweden. In week 35, 4,245 people per 100,000 in Denmark and 831 in Sweden were tested.
However, it is difficult to say what this means, as it is difficult to compare the figures between countries due to differences in the amount of evidence.
– At the same time, there have been fewer infections overall in Denmark, which means fewer are immune, says Søren Riis Paludan, professor of virology and immunology at Aarhus University in the DR.
So far, a total of 626 people have died from covid-19 in Denmark, in Sweden we have 5,832 confirmed deaths from covid-19.
