Denmark introduced border controls in March, as the new corona virus gained momentum across much of Scandinavia.
On March 14, the border with Sweden was more or less completely closed.
It was only in late spring and summer that Danes began to relax at the border stop and began allowing German, Norwegian and Icelandic tourists to enter. In mid-July, the first Swedes, in addition to the travelers, were also able to return to Denmark.
Easier border controls
Later, the Danish police introduced strict border controls through which all incoming people were allowed to pass. Now the Danish police announce that border controls will be relaxed as of Thursday.
– Adaptive border control means that border control is carried out with periodic and random operations, the Danish police write in a press release.
However, it is currently unclear how the new rules will affect Swedish travelers.
At Copenhagen Airport, full checks will continue to be carried out for people traveling to Denmark from a “quarantined country”.
– In relation to arrivals from countries open to the Schengen area, covid-19 efforts will also be based on random sampling. But here too intelligence, local conditions and traffic patterns play a role in border control.
