For ten years, Princess Sophia has run her charity project “Project Playground” in South Africa.
But far from everyone, he has seen commitment as something genuine on his part, something that has cost him a lot.
– The speculation that “they prepared this to improve his reputation” was heartbreaking, he says in a new TV4 documentary.
Already as a teenager at her home in Älvdalen, Princess Sofia’s desire to help vulnerable children grew through volunteer work in Africa. When she was 16, she took her savings and traveled to a country in Africa for the first time.
Over the years, he has made several trips to Ghana and South Africa, among other places, where he has been running two centers for children in the charity “Project Playground” for ten years.

Princess Sofia spoke about charity work with “Project Playground”.
At the two facilities in South Africa, vulnerable children can come to eat, play, play soccer, get help with homework and dance. Every day about a thousand children arrive there, says the princess in a recent documentary.
In the documentary, which is broadcast this Thursday on TV4, he talks about the criticism that has been directed at him over the years and the mistrust that his commitment is genuine. The criticism has been, among other things, that the charity would be adapted to look good in the role of princess.

Provides perspective on one’s parenting role
Something that has also felt that it has been unfair to the others involved. Princess Sofia describes the criticism as heartbreaking.
– Especially for all my colleagues who work so incredibly to try to make this work from all perspectives, he says.
In the documentary, she also talks about how she gives perspective on various difficulties of everyday life and how it has affected her since she herself became the mother of princes Alexander and Gabriel.
– You become much more sensitive, you see little things that affect your own children. Children here experience abuse, physical and psychological violence. You become more emotionally affected, she says.
She wants to take the experiences home and share them with her own children and show them that not everything is like the environment in which they grow up.
– I hope to give my children that life is much more, says Princess Sofia.
The documentary will be broadcast at 9:00 p.m. on Tv4 on Thursday.
