Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg is in financial trouble and must cut its annual costs by just over SEK 250 million. In June, 180 employees were notified of layoffs and all permanent university employees are now offered to leave with a severance package. A total of approximately 3,300 people work at Chalmers, including temporary employees.
“To minimize the number of layoffs, Chalmers gives you as an employee the opportunity to leave Chalmers with a severance package,” it says in the internal information that GP has received.
Those who accept the offer You may have a longer paid notice period and for those who become pensioners, certain pension provisions will be made until they reach the age of 65.
However, the employer will only award the severance package in cases where it is not necessary to hire a replacement.
– It is an opportunity for employees who still had planned to leave, retire or start their own, can do so now and obtain good conditions for the future, says Christian Borg, Chalmers press officer, to GP.
