The new Rinkeby Police Station is now open to the public.
This after a summer with several serious violent crimes in the area.
– We are working hard to resolve this situation, says Rinkeby Local Police Area Chief Therese Rosengren.
The doors of the new Rinkeby police station were opened on Tuesday. Or in the “most important local police zone,” as it was also called during the morning opening.
During the summer, Rinkeby has been struck by various brutal acts.
Among other things, four murders and ten attempted murders, according to information to Aftonbladet.

“I have not succeeded”
Therese Rosengren, area chief of the Rinkeby local police, was among those present at the police station in the morning.
– The police house is of great importance, partly for us in the Swedish police, but also for those of us who live here. Noting that “now we are in place,” she says:
– It is an incredibly serious situation at the moment and we are making a great effort to resolve this situation.

Last week, the police launched “Portia”, a special effort to try to break the spiral of violence in Rinkeby. But Teresa still emphasizes the importance of the help of the inhabitants.
– We in the police have not been able to solve it alone. It is together with the citizens who live here that we can make a difference, says Rosengren.
How?
– Creating relationships with those who live in the area. That we reach out and talk to them. We need the help of the public.
As a close resident, should one be concerned?
– No, you should not worry, but you must be careful.
“It never goes out in the evenings”
But despite Rosengren’s call, there are residents who feel anxious. One of them is 81-year-old Maud Håkansson who lives on the outskirts of Rinkeby.
– I don’t go out in the evenings anymore. That is unpleasant to me. You are probably afraid of things happening. Even innocent people get in trouble, he says.
He has lived in Rinkeby for over 20 years and believes the new police house is a welcome addition.
– That’s really good. Now you might see cops more often around here.
Do you think it is necessary?
– Absolutely, if you think about all the shootings and gang fights. Police cars have been seen, but not so many policemen on patrol. She would have felt safer, says Maud.
