Clothing maker Fristads is a guest on the latest episode of the new Future Industry podcast. In the section, Anders Hülse, Managing Director of Fristads, talks about the company’s work to lead the garment industry in the transition to being more climate-smart.
Since 1925, Fristads, which was founded in the small town of the same name on the outskirts of Borås, has been manufacturing workwear for professional construction, industrial and service workers. On the Future Industry podcast, Anders Hulse and host Elin Häggberg talk about Fristad’s desire to lead and inspire the textile industry in a green transition.
– In general, we think that today’s society places too low demands on textiles, the quality of the products is too low and they do not last long. It is too “fast fashion” where we change clothes quickly according to the fashion cycle and as clothing manufacturers we have to work to achieve this by assuming our responsibility. We want to create accessible clothing that protects the user, but has the least possible impact on the environment. We do this with a broad perspective where we look at the social, environmental and economic aspects, says Anders Hülse in the section.
It says that Fristads, in collaboration with the Rise research institute, has developed a new standard, the so-called environmental product statement, on how to measure the environmental impact of clothing production.
In addition to this, they also talk about Fristad’s other sustainability work, about Fristad’s other collaborations, and much more. Hear the episode with Fristads, and all other episodes, here.
