It was news that surprised most of the people.
It is said that Lionel Messi is tired of Barcelona and wants to leave the club. The Argentine star claims he has the right to leave the club this summer while the club is alone.
The 7.2 billion SEK purchase clause still applies.
Shortly after, the Spanish league came out and confirmed that the termination clause will continue to apply.
Which means that a possible play by Lionel Messi waned, as few clubs can match that price.
One club that, however, expects Messi to do well and thus be able to leave Barcelona without a transfer fee is Manchester City. It is said that the great English club has already prepared a great deal for the world star.
According to Spanish Sport, the club should be prepared to offer Lionel Messi a contract worth SEK 7.7 billion.
According to the newspaper, the contract will last for five years.
For the first three years, Messi will belong to Manchester City and then play for two seasons for New York City FC.
As if that wasn’t enough.
Simply moving to the United States would mean that Messi will receive a bonus of 250 million euros.
It remains to be seen if Lionel Messi gets his way and can leave Barcelona for free this summer.
Otherwise, a club simply has to match the SEK 7.2 billion buyout clause.
