The renovation of a high-rise building at Dalaplan in Malmö has started at a rapid pace after the building’s facade tiles were found to be extremely flammable, Kvällsposten reports.

A high-rise building at Dalaplan in Malmö had to be urgently renovated after the building’s facade tiles were found to be flammable.
The high-rise building has had the flammable material on the facade since it was opened in 2014, but it was only after an inspection this year that the discovery was made. Therefore, the renovation started last Friday.
The emergency renovation is commended by Ville Bexander, a fire engineer and technical fire protection expert for the Fire Protection Association.
– Those who act do the right thing. It is a serious bet and it is positive that you understand the danger and take action. We urge this even if it is expensive, Bexander tells the newspaper.
He points to the 2017 London fire disaster, where 72 people died at Grenfell Tower as an example of what can happen if no action is taken when flammable material is found in the construction of a high-rise building.
