Israel recently concluded a landmark agreement on normalized relations with the United Arab Emirates. But according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, secret talks are underway with several Arab states to establish ties.
“There are many more unprecedented meetings with Arab and Muslim leaders to normalize relations with the state of Israel,” Netanyahu said on the same day that El Al airline will make the first commercial flight to the United Arab Emirates.
It has been speculated that Bahrain, Oman and Sudan may be next.
The emirate announced the other day that it was repealing a 1972 law that meant a boycott of goods and products from Israel.
With the agreement, the United Arab Emirates will be the first Gulf state, and the third Arab country, to establish full diplomatic relations with Israel.
Under the US-brokered agreement reached in early August, Israel is committed to halting the planned annexation of Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said plans are still on the table.
Palestinian leaders have described the agreement as a betrayal of the United Arab Emirates.
