After speculation and the crown falls.
The match between Helsingborg and Djurgården is played as planned.
– For me, it is strange that Swedish football in these times of the crown makes a decision that is in direct conflict with the recommendations made by doctors on infection control, says annoyed Krister Azelius, president of HIF, to Fotbollskanalen.
Four cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Helsingborg players’ team, and Smittskydd Skåne strongly recommended that the club stop its football activities for the time being.
Yesterday’s training was canceled and before today’s match against Djurgården, HIF decided to send a request to the SvFF (TK) competition committee to move the match.
HIF application rejection
A request that the club has now rejected.
The game is played as scheduled, starting at 2.30 pm.
The reasons for the decision are:
“TK has great faith in the protocol and security measures that SEF clubs have agreed to in order to achieve infection-proof arrangements. TK also bases its decision on the general approach advocated by the national authority, the Public Health Agency: that the covid-19 cases are isolated and that it is not necessary to close the activities. “
A decision that upsets the president of Helsingborg, Krister Azelius.
– For me, it is strange that Swedish football in these crown times, when the whole world is on fire, makes a decision that is in direct conflict with the recommendations that doctors make on infection control, says and continues:
– Now we are not the ones who invent something here. The infection control doctors have told us that we cannot do any soccer activities. Yesterday they did not allow us to train and today we will not play a game.
“Paired all the time”
Something Djurgården has been preparing for all this time.
– We have always proposed that it be a match. They (the SvFF competition committee) would have a meeting at nine o’clock, and it took time, of course you’re starting to wonder, but we’re not surprised it’s a match.
Are there any concerns in the squad given the situation in Helsingborg?
– No, we have had a dialogue with Helsingborg on that aspect, so we feel very confident with the measures that have been taken.
