Large influx of rescue service

A school burns down in Malmö.
During the night, the public has been urged to close doors and windows.
After several hours, the fire is now under control.
At 9:10 p.m. on Saturday night, the police were alerted to a fire in Gullviksskolan in Malmö.
A so-called VMA, an important message to the public, was about the development of smoke. The rescue leader urged everyone in the Gullvik area in the Fosie district to enter and close doors, windows and ventilation.
– When we got to the scene, it was a fully developed fire and we don’t have it under control, says Mats Nilsson, internal commander of TT’s South Rescue Service.
There are a total of 14 units from five different fire stations to fight the flames. According to the rescue service, no one was inside the school. The rescue service is putting out the fire outside, but it is still spreading inside the school.
At 10 pm, there is no risk of spreading outside the school area, but Mats Nilsson cannot rule out that the fire will spread to other buildings within the school area.
Not linked to riots
Police were also called to the scene.
– We have received an alarm about the development of smoke from Gullviksskolan. We’re at the scene there, says police spokesman Jimmy Modin.
According to Jimmy Modin, the fire is currently assumed to be unrelated to yesterday’s riots and riots.
– So far we make absolutely no connection, we’ll see what they come up with on the spot, says Jimmy Modin.
Gullviksskolan is a school with preschool classes and classes from 1-6. In total, about 320 students go to school.
– No injuries have been reported and we currently do not know what caused the fire, Jimmy Modin tells Aftonbladet.
