SJ has previously commented on criticism from, among others, Hélène Gladsaxe, after she refused to carry her electric mop on the train. Among other things, the ban is due to difficulties in evacuating trains.
– Oversized motorized electric mops have a large turning radius, and we cannot handle that if there is an evacuation situation. Safety should come first, says Leila Fogenholm.
She thinks part of the explanation It’s that the trains are old and not adapted to modern electric mops.
– We try to help. When we buy new vehicles or rebuild carriages, we will see how society has developed when it comes to electric mops. There is a new X2000 that is underway and that will arrive in a few years, where we see it.
Will there be more wheelchair space there?
– We’re looking at it.
According to Fogenholm, it is clear that SJ should be for everyone, there are “good opportunities to go with” and they “do their best so that everyone can go with”.
Do you do that if you are only allowed to have one wheelchair per train?
– It depends a bit on the type of train, but on some trains there is only one place for the disabled. We will have to review in the future how we can build our trains to adapt them.
What do you think of Hélène Gladsaxe’s protest trip?
– I think it is good that people pay attention to the fact that people with disabilities cannot move in society.
