The Public Health Authority and the government have already urged the public to avoid unnecessary travel. On Wednesday, an editorial adjustment was presented on travel within Sweden.
A 1 to 2 hour car trip can be completed, provided they are contagiously safe.
– This was a clarification of the recommendation that existed, for example, for the weekend of the Ascension of Christ. I think everyone should be aware of whether they risk spreading the infection with their actions – how I travel there, who I hang out with, how big the company is, how close we are to each other, etc., says the prime minister. Stefan Löfven to DN on Thursday.
He adds that it is the Public Health Authority that issued the recommendation, and that the questions are best answered by the authority.
On Thursday, DN Sara Byfors of the Public Health Agency asked to clarify a number of ambiguities about the new travel council:
What does this new wording mean?
– That you can make some shorter trips. You should preferably drive a car so that you do not have to get close to other people during the trip.
Only people with their own car can leave their place of residence?
– No, but it is clear that it is better to go in your own car. It’s also that if you have symptoms and need to go home, it is a clear advantage not to have to take the bus.
Why do you have to be able to reach your region of origin?
– This is desirable because the receiving region should be able to plan its care and some regions can receive much more than in normal cases and it becomes even more difficult today.
Should you go home if you have mild symptoms, in case you become seriously ill?
– Yes, but it is a good idea to do it or make sure that someone else can help a home. But that depends on the situation.
The recommendation means very different things depending on where you live. How to think?
– It is an approximate measure, an estimate. You can stay ten minutes from a regional border, or it’s the queues of cars or other things that affect the trip. But it’s basically about staying close to your region and not being too far from home. Common sense is what you must govern.
Who do you know
– You should not know many people with whom you rarely spend time. If you go to your country and meet people you generally meet once or twice a year, I would rarely say, but I think everyone knows it and can do such evaluations.
During Wednesday’s press conference, helagotland.se was also asked if the restriction meant avoiding unnecessary travel to and from Gotland.
– Yes, I would say, when you go by ferry part of the way. If you go to Gotland, you go to a region with limited medical care.
Given all the questions asked, did it become much clearer?
– No, I don’t know if it became much clearer. Safe for some, but not for others. But everyone still has to make their own evaluations of what is a necessary and unnecessary trip, and so on, so you must find a way to handle it yourself.
