The alarm about the fire on the bus reached the police at 6pm on Thursday. A witness rang an alarm after smelling a smoke.

The fire broke out at a stop in the Örebro Vivalla area. According to police, the bus caught fire and there was an initial risk of an explosion.

– It strikes around it and a safety distance of at least 100 meters has been ordered, says Kenneth Johannesson, a press spokesman for the Bergslagen region.

At 6:45 p.m., the police announced that there was no longer an explosion risk and that the fences had been reduced to 50 meters. Later, residents in the area could also return to their homes.

All passengers on board had to leave the bus when the fire broke out.

Several people are said to be near the fire, so the police have set up large barricades.

– Curiosity is quite tangible, so we have to convince people to back off. It is a fairly large area that we have blocked. We’ll also be able to turn off traffic for a couple of blocks around Vivallaringen, says Kenneth Johannesson.

Later, the police announced on their website that there were still “crowds of onlookers” who did not respect the barricades.
