The Norwegian government has given a publisher to move the oil business.

Greta Thunberg, along with 13 other young climate activists, wrote a letter to the Norwegian parliament, with Erna Solberg at the forefront.

“All children living today will face an increased risk of death and disease,” they write in the statement, reports NRK.

It is the international law firm Hausfeld, which sent the letter from the 14 young climate activists. Greta Thunberg is one of them, writes NRK.

The letter is written with the argument that the Storting will ask the government about its proposal to move the oil business in the Children’s Sea.

It is about moving the so-called “ice rim” that separates the open sea and ice in the Arctic.

“Contrary to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child”

In September 2019, the 14 young people filed a complaint with the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. Then they accused countries like Argentina, Brazil, Germany and Turkey of increasing the use of fossil fuels to prolong the climate crisis.

In the letter to the Storting, young environmental activists refer to the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and say that Norway has agreed to listen to children’s voices on issues that affect their right to life.

– All children living today will face increased risks of death and disease in a world that is fundamentally changing due to these destructive emissions. Norway must not, must not, act to increase this loss of life, it is written in the letter.

The law firm also asks in the letter that Norway should include knowledgeable child activists in every decision made on the subject of activities to be allowed in the area on the edge of the ice.

I did not receive an answer

This is the second letter that young people send. In December 2019, the children asked Norway and Canada to take a stand on the climate issue by stopping supporting their own oil and gas production.

Norwegian authorities have not responded to the letter. This means that the law firm violates the Convention on the Rights of the Child by not listening to children about issues that affect their right to life.
