Overall, this is a temporary 25 percent increase in the preliminary housing allowance. For a family of children, this can mean up to SEK 1,325 more per month. Families who already have housing subsidies receive the subsidy without having to make a special request.
The legislative amendment is proposed to take effect on July 1 of this year and run until December 31, 2020, and is based on an agreement between the government, the Center Party and the liberals.

On the government website it can be read that the appearance of the proposal depends on the situation with the coronavirus.
“Due to the economic situation that arose due to the covid-19 disease outbreak, many households have received or are at risk of reducing disposable income. The housing subsidy is a sure benefit to reach homes with weak finances ”, writes the government on its website.
The cost of the grant will amount to SEK 560 million, according to Finance Minister Per Bolund.
