Alexander Farnerud left Helsingborgs IF after last season after a stint at the club. He is the brother of IFK Gothenburg Assistant Manager for Sports, Pontus Farnerud, and has previously represented BK Häcken.

After Farnerud left Helsingborg, he trained in the winter with German SG Sonnenhof Großaspach, but there was no contract between the parties and he is also playing next season at Allsvenskan.

In addition to Helsingborg and BK Häcken, Farnerud has played for the Danish Bröndby, the Swiss BSC Young Boys and the Italian Torino FC. The 36-year-old has eight A-country games and two goals for Sweden on record.

GP has applied for the position of IFK Gothenburg Assistant Sports Manager, Pontus Farnerud.
