On May 1, an 80-year-old man and woman were found dead in a residence in Ekerö on the outskirts of Stockholm. Neighbors alerted the police that the mailbox was overcrowded. Almost two weeks later, several of the police questions remain unanswered.
“It is unusual in this way that we cannot say with certainty what has happened and what is the cause of death,” says Mats Eriksson, a police spokesman.
Police suspect murder.
– The circumstances at the site mean that we cannot rule out that crimes have been committed, says Mats Eriksson.
TT: Have you found any murder weapon?
– There’s nothing I can get into.
No one is arrested.
– We have nothing to follow when it comes to a perpetrator.
At first, the dead could not be identified, but the police have now managed to identify the man.
– The woman has not yet been identified, but there is nothing to indicate that she is someone other than what we believe. So the dead are the people who lived in the house.
The relatives have been notified by the police.
– We explained to the relatives that the identification has not yet been completed.
TT: Why is identification difficult?
– It is not clear when the death occurred, but I suspect that there was a certain time between the death and when they were found. This makes identification difficult, says Mats Eriksson.
