The National Board of Trustees (NRF)) is a nonprofit organization that serves the common interests of board members and consists of 53 local associations spread across the country. One of the main tasks of the NRF within the framework of the Board of Governors and the decision of the Riksdag is to work so that the Board system: develop, not be phased out!

Previously, the median age was 57.2 years.

This is likely due to: poor recruitment information about what the assignment entails, poor working conditions, low rates, and poor compensation terms. Through negotiations with the Court of Justice, NRF has tried on several occasions to obtain support for the working conditions of the committees, without being heard. Therefore, the government should act quickly on this important issue.

These rare trials place high demands on the courage and integrity of sentencing committees and dare to defend what they believe to be the correct trial. Of course, the verdict must be within the law. Otherwise, the jury and / or the lawyer have been wrong. In relation to the deliberations of the court, it is the responsibility of the jury to report to the Board what the law says. It is relatively rare for panelists to vote against the jury. IN just over 1 percent of all district court sentences are the result of so-called jury verdicts. These sentences are regularly appealed to the superior court, which determines just over 30 percent of the sentences.
Unfortunately, it is sometimes discussed in the debate. that the entire committee system should be abolished. However, in several state investigations, it is stated that the advantages of the Board of Trustees are greater than its drawbacks and that the Board of Trustees contributes more significantly to the independent courts of Sweden.
NRF agrees with the requirements about the fact that “the board system should be reformed”, but then in the sense that the board system should “develop”. Improvement areas focus primarily on issues related to: broader hiring, in-depth / extended training, rate increases, and improved pay. Federation President Linda von Beetzen says: “Together we must dare, safeguard and develop the board system.”
