The disappearance of the 17-year-old girl in Uddevalla last fall attracted a lot of attention. Now comes the charge against a 23-year-old man suspected of murdering her.
He is suspected of murder and violation of the peace of the complaint.
According to a press release, the prosecutor will press charges against the 23-year-old on Wednesday.
“Extensive investigative measures have been taken in the case. Among other things, a large number of interrogations have been conducted and an extensive crime scene investigation has been conducted. A large amount of analysis of traces at the National Forensic Center (NFC), which are now finalized, “says prosecutor Jim Westerberg. in the press release.
The girl disappeared in November and began a large search effort with many volunteers. The 23-year-old suspect, a man in the girl’s presence, was arrested a few days after the disappearance. Later, a part of the body was found, which according to police shows that the girl is no longer alive.
“The police have done everything in our power to find the girl. We have searched Uddevalla, both on land and in the water, and it has been valuable that hundreds of volunteers have helped us in that work,” says Sten- Rune Timmersjö, head of serious crime in the Fyrbodal police area, in the press release.
“We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to the search. We now have to try the case in court and it is satisfactory.”
The charge is presented at a digital press conference on Wednesday. The 23-year-old suspect rejects a crime.
