One by one, the participants have fallen, and in the end, it is the skater Michel Tornéus, 33 years old, and the alpine rider Frida Hansdotter, 34 years old, who appear as finalists in the final duel of the “Champion of Champions “.
It is a classic obstacle course that meets them, with several different parts where they have to use both body and mental capacity. Frida Hansdotter deduces when participants must balance with bags full of number blocks on a narrow boom, and then put the numbers in order on a large board.
For several moments Hansdotter seems to be stricter, and his precision means he doesn’t fail and needs to redo, hitting Tornéus multiple times.
Turn everything around at the end
But at the last moment everything changes. Participants will have to exchange sticks with a swinging pendulum, something in which Tornéus is much better. Therefore, it is he who finally lifts the dent, after the long and hard final trail.
– It’s a great honor. I know who has won this before, and now I must be one of them. I am the champion of the masters, says the long jump happily.
He claims that he is the first athlete to have won the competition, and is hailed by Frida Hansdotter.
– Is big!
When the winner remembers the final, it also reveals its unknown damage that viewers didn’t know about.
– I tightened the ligament in my lap. It doesn’t appear on the shoot itself, but I had a lot of trouble with that.
– I felt my knee hurt during the course of the competition, but I was in the competition and I didn’t have time to think about it. The pain had to be noticed, he continues.
Tornéu’s message with the cap
In the final section, Tornéus also receives a cap from the bronze medalist Henrik Windstedt, where the great Botkyrka, the Stockholm suburb, comes from, where Tornéus comes from.
– Just to show all the children that nothing is impossible. Nothing is impossible, no matter where you come from, ”says Tornéus.
– No, this is proof of that, wonderfully, host Micke Leijnegard agrees.
For the Express, Tornéus tells more about the hat:
– I’ve used it on the track too. And I thought it might be nice. Once we entered the final, I wanted to win, so I brought it with me. It really is just a symbol to show that you can come from wherever you want and yet you can achieve what you dream of. I’m from Botkyrka, but it could have been any other place in it. I just wanted to show it when you get a chance.
Frida Hansdotter is not dissatisfied with the second position, but admits that she has to practice her precision skills.
– When I went here, I felt: “What a starting point! If you can make it to the final – wow. ” So I’m super happy and a very happy second, he says proudly.
“Now I want to compete again”
After the victory, Tornéus makes a promise: he will stay away from the competition.
– Now I will not compete for a year in anything. It will not be One, nothing. This took, he says on the show.
Now, however, several months after the tapes, the athlete’s former star is beginning to change.
– You have to compete a lot during the whole thing, so I felt like I had to take a break. But now it’s starting to come back, now I want to compete again.
But how important was the competition itself during the show?
– He is quite nice and relaxed. At that very moment, when you compete, is when you notice that everyone enters and focuses on the competition. But as soon as the competition ends, everything is pretty smooth again.
Did you have any benefit at the end of your career as late as 2019?
– No, I had no advantage. I think you also see it in competition. Not that he entered and dominated all competitions and was the obvious winner all along.
What do you mainly bring from the program?
– It is definitely this community that you can build in one week. Getting close to a person in a week I think is fantastic. It was so much fun to be a part of this. It was an honor and is simply a memory of life. Easy.
