A cold front draws in from the west and the weekly sun shifts to much cooler rainfall and temperatures in much of the country.
Dalarna, Hälsingland, Medelpad, Västerbotten and Norrbotten can in some places get around 10 centimeters of snow overnight and on Sunday.
According to Gustav Åström, a meteorologist on duty at SMHI, the recent heat button is coming to an end, at least temporarily.
– Yes, it’s temporarily over anyway. Cold air enters next week with negative degrees at night in many cities. It looks like we’re getting similar temperatures over the next week, he says.
The worst rain is expected in northern Sweden, where SMHI issues Class 1 warnings with up to four inches of snow in places and the risk of slipping at night.
Five centimeters
– There may be a few centimeters in many places in Norrland and northwest Svealand. The focus is north of Dalarna, the border between Medelpad, Hälsingland and Jämtland, east of Västerbotten and the Norrbotten coast, which can go as far as a decimeter. But in most places it is less than five centimeters, Åström says.
During the afternoon, the rain drifts away from northern Sweden and down the country, but mainly in the form of rain.
– There should be no snow on the ground. It is so hot that the snow is melting, says Gustav Åström.
Cooler next week
Sunday, however, initially offers temperatures of up to 20 degrees in southern parts of the country, such as Götaland and Skåne. But then in the afternoon the weather is expected to change there as well and the heat drop.
Something that will be next week.
– During the day, it is about ten degrees above the southern part of the country, but at night the temperature drops to zero in cold, dry air, Åström says.
