Viewers criticize SVT’s “Before ESC” presentation

Viewers are furious at SVT’s presentation of “Before Eurovision”.

Both on social media and Aftonbladet’s live chat, people have heard angry comments.

“Terribly bad SVT! We want to hear the songs, ”writes one person.

During Saturday night it was time for the Eurovision Song Contest in a new crop on SVT. When the royal competition was canceled due to the corona virus, SVT chose to host their own competition where the Swedish people can vote for their winner in Melloappen.

Spectators tried all 41 tickets there David Sundin, 43, too Christer Björkman, 62, program manager. The show started at 9:00 p.m. on Saturday night and after a few minutes viewers were furious on the channel.

“The stupidest thing I’ve ever been”

The reason?

During the performances, different people suddenly appeared who thought about each song, which upset many viewers when they didn’t listen to the songs.

He has broken into social media, Aftonbladet’s live chat, and on top phones for editorial staff. Some of the comments that came from viewers during the night are:

“Thanks SVT for a Saturday night!” Wrote one user.

“That bad! There is no possibility of listening to the songs and thinking. The stupidest thing I’ve ever been through. How do Christer and Co think? ”Write another.

“Thank you SVT for a Saturday night!” Writes a third.

“Anger here is historical”

Several of the viewers think that SVT should apologize and remove the “sofas”. Aftonbladets Music Editor, Markus LarssonThose who talk to readers testify to a storm that I have never seen before.

– Anger here is historical, he says.

SVT response: “I have the utmost respect for the criticism that has come”

When Aftonbladet reaches the SVT project manager Anders G Carlsson he responds to criticism.

– I have the utmost respect for the criticism that has come to me. I can only explain what the ambition has been, he says.

Which has been

– I am proud and happy that SVT is doing these programs. That we offer this parade of songs even though there is no Eurovision this year. If we had played all the songs in a row, it would have been a very long TV show. We chose to play song parts and there we made an editorial selection. Some of us listen and others less. It is a treat for viewers.

“That is not true, you listen to the songs”

Anders G Carlsson believes they chose to add the “sofa types” to create dynamism.

– We chose to add something to the rather static program that it had become otherwise. Our ambition was to post comments that we otherwise say anyway, he says.

SVT has been inspired by the trend of “reaction videos” where people on the Internet react to programs and other videos.

– There are several videos on the Internet where people react to things, so we thought we would publish that format. I think he feels a little bit more relaxed. I understand that some people don’t like it, so I have the utmost respect for it.

The biggest criticism is that viewers don’t listen to the songs, what do you say about it?

– That’s not true, you listen to the songs. If you’re interested enough, the songs are entirely in the app. There you can really in peace and listen to the songs. Here we have an exhibition and we mix with those 41 songs.
