She is tipped to get the best LO job

June 15, LO celebrates its 29th regular congress. But as a result of the crisis of the crown, its size is reduced. The digital meeting will only deal largely with the election of a new LO Board of Directors, the rest of the questions will be postponed to the Fall Representative Council and a congress resumed next spring.

Karl-Petter Thorwaldsson served as president for two terms, eight years, and announced last winter that he had done his job.

Two people reportedly told TT the nominating committee they are seeking to take over LO’s highest office, Susanna Gideonsson, who publicly announced her candidacy, and Johan Lindholm, who has yet to say anything.

On Monday, the Nominations Committee meets with the LO Board, where all unions are represented, for an alleged final reconciliation.

Susanna Gideonsson is currently president of LO’s third largest union, Handels. She has publicly stated that she is willing to take over the LO club, although, as a result of her age, she would only be relevant for a four-year term in Congress.

– It was not an easy decision. But if we want something like a pact, we must also be prepared to take responsibility. Handels wants to see a strong LO that has a clear fight for the problems of our members in the labor market and in society, Handelsnytt told his own magazine in mid-March.

According to the sources that TT spoke with, it is she who takes charge, has the support that is needed. But there is a question mark: do you still want to do it?

An investigator says the nominating committee met with her again this week. The fact that Handels, along with several other unions, lost the internal dispute in the LO family about how the ongoing negotiations with the employers should go, may have caused it to rot.

If she falls at the last minute, only the building’s president, Johan Lindholm, remains among the only hot candidates at this time.

Not only a new president must be shaken. Another vice president Berit Müllerström is also leaving. There has also been some dissatisfaction with the settlement secretary, Torbjörn Johansson, who has been in office for eight years.

Current Vice President Therese Guovelin tells TT that she is happy to run for another term in her current position.
