Brazilian Ronaldo Souza should have been a middleweight wrestler against Jamaica’s Uriah Hall, but was turned off at the last minute when he tested positive for covid-19 on Friday. Two of his employees were also found to be carrying the infection.

“All three left the hotel and will be quarantined elsewhere,” a UFC representative said late Friday, local time.

Uriah Hall is suffering with Ronaldo Souza.

“I know this sucks. I am sorry you have to go through this and I am more than devastated by this missed opportunity. I wish you nothing more than that you and your family are well again “Hall writes on Twitter.

The UFC gala will be implemented as planned

All the other participants have been negative and the gala will be implemented as planned.

“We believe we should do this now in a place where everything is as safe as possible,” UFC President Dana White told CNN Sport.

The gala in Jacksonville, Florida will take place without crowds and is the first major sporting event in the country, as virtually all sports have been halted to limit the ongoing pandemic.

The main match is the lightweight interim title match between Tony Ferguson, USA. USA, and compatriot Justin Gaethjas.
