Commuters arrive at London Heathrow Airport on April 4.
Everyone traveling to the UK must be quarantined for 14 days soon. News of the new rules is expected this weekend, The Times writes.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce on Sunday that there will be a two-week quarantine requirement for anyone traveling to the UK, the newspaper reports.
The measure is being introduced to prevent a second wave of the corona virus and is expected to take effect in early June.
Passengers arriving in the UK through airports and ports, including returning British, should indicate upon arrival which direction they plan to be during quarantine.
Travelers to Ireland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man are excluded, as are truck drivers who deliver the necessary items.
Authorities will carry out random checks and for those who violate quarantine a fine of £ 1,000, corresponding to just over 12,000 SEK, is expected, according to the newspaper.
Johnson is also expected next week to announce some relief from the country’s severe virus restrictions.
So far, the UK has had no quarantine requirements for travelers unless symptoms of illness have been shown. The country has also not closed its borders to enter, but the British government discourages all unnecessary travel.
Furthermore, air traffic to and from the United Kingdom is heavily affected and there are no direct flights from Sweden for a time, according to the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
