Norwegian Marit Björgen should have trained 940 hours a year when she was at her peak, compatriot Therese Johaug is said to have around 1,000 and Finn Iivo Niskanen is said to have increased the training dose to a bit unlikely of 1,100 hours. annually, that is, on average more than three hours per day
The number of hours of training is constantly present to analyze how the best cross-country skiers become so good. But the focus on quantity is too big, says Frida Karlsson.
The great talent of 20 years. therefore his training has changed.
– We really try to focus on thinking, which is a bit of cross-country skiing culture, that you should train as much as possible and just be away for several hours a day. We try to have quality in what you do and maybe you prefer to leave it for an hour. That thought suits me, Karlsson says.
What happened last December has obviously affected her. She was then stopped from competition after failing the national team health exam, and she missed much of the season. You have encountered the wall once and do not want to do it again.
– I learned a lot When I was arrested and then I started training again, I did very few hours, but all the hours I did were with 110 percent focus, 110 percent quality, and I took a lot from there. I really want that focus instead of having the number of hours as focus.
– If I hadn’t crossed the border, then I might not have learned as much as I do now.
The end of the season However, it became a success when Frida Karlsson broke even Therese Johaug and claimed her first World Cup victory of her career by winning the Holmenkollen three-mile classic.
Now verification of victory is also underway. The sum of prices of just over 100,000 SEK has been delayed since the Norwegian organizer had problems with the economy.
– I received an email from my mother saying that the money was on the way. So they probably solved it. But to be honest, I read in the newspaper that I hadn’t received the money, so I didn’t have a big check. But of course the right thing should be the right thing. It’s fun to know that you get them.
After spending Frida Karlsson is back in Sollefteå for a few weeks in a mountain cabin. Until now, the pandemic crown, which has closed almost all sports, has not affected too much their daily life.
– You think a little more about the times you buy and try not to be among so many people. But when you’re in the woods and running, you don’t find that many, so for me it’s a pretty normal life.
However, a notable difference will be the absence of national team camps this summer. The first, in the Norwegian Sognefjell in May, has already been canceled, while a camp in June appears to have the same fate.
– You will not be able to participate in the combat that means being in the camp, when you can measure your strength with the other girls and feel that you work together. But at the same time I have more time with my home coach, Per Nilsson. So that way it’s good.
