The Stockholm region is preparing to increase patient pressure after the Easter weekend.

Currently, it is unclear if the region sees a delay, like the Public Health Authority, in the number of confirmed infected people.

– It indicates that it is a little slower to get the figures, so we are likely to have a delay in the statistics, says Eriksson.

Numbers on them those who are hospitalized should be up-to-date, says Eriksson, who believes that the delay will be seen mainly in the death statistics.

Björn Eriksson says he expects a tougher health situation in the region on Tuesday and Wednesday.

– Towards the end of a weekend and after a long weekend, the need for medical care increases. Then generally look for the emergency rooms. So we plan the worst, while hoping for the best, says Eriksson.

In an interview with Swedish radio During Monday night, Eriksson answers the question why the region has not yet opened the field hospital in Älvsjö.

– We provide medical care where we do it best and with the highest quality. And we do it in our emergency hospitals whenever we can be there, he says, and he believes the region is ready to open the hospital when necessary.

For Ekot, Eriksson says the top priority at the moment is “reducing the spread of infection in settings where it does the most damage.”

We still have empty intensive care places here in Stockholm, but we have concerns with the staff.

Johan Styrud, Chief Physician at Danderyds hospital and president of the Stockholm Medical Association, he was also interviewed in SR on Monday night.

“The situation on the floor is tense,” he says.

Styrud does not believe that field hospitals should be opened at present. This is because there are better resources in the emergency hospitals in the region.

– We still have empty intensive care places here in Stockholm, but we have concerns with the staff. Many of our staff are sick, he tells Ekot.
