Warnings refer to Sjuhäradsbygden in Västra Götaland County, Jönköping County, Kronoberg County, Kalmar, except Öland, Östergötland County, Södermanland County, Uppsala County, County from Dalarna and the county of Gävleborg.
– The risk of grass fires increases when last year’s dry grass emerges in combination with dry air. If it’s sunny sometimes, it can increase the risk, says Sofia Söderberg, a meteorologist at SMHI.
In Gävle, the rescue service was on a grass fire at the Railway Museum on Saturday.
“It was a small grass fire, which was due to a failed fire,” says Ali Riekki, internal commander of the Gästrike rescue service.
He says that grass fires are a kind of sign of spring.
– In the worst case scenario, a lawn fire can spread to a property and become property damage, or one is injured. It can end really bad if you get stressed and goes beyond control, says Ali Riekki.
He points out that anyone who is going to shoot should always make sure they have an extinguishing kit.
– You should be able to put out a fire. You are the one with all the responsibility. But if there is a risk of fire, then you must completely abstain.
