The increasing spread of the infection in Sweden has had an impact on both mortality and the number of people seriously ill in covid-19.
61 Covid-related deaths have been reported to the Swedish Public Health Agency between Friday and Tuesday. During the same period, in Sweden just over 15,000 new cases of disease have been confirmed and 74 VAT admissions have been recorded.
– It shows that the spread of infection continues to increase in Sweden, says state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell and continues:
– You can probably count on it continuing to increase. At the same time, the pressure on intensive care is as great as in the spring and you are still not close to maximum capacity.
Tuesday was careful 167 people are intensely for covid-19 in Sweden, about 40 percent of all intensive care patients in the country are covids. 1,288 people receive care in other rooms of the hospital. This means there are just under a thousand fewer covid patients in hospitals than when they were at their peak this spring.
At most 2,412 people with Covid-19 have received hospital care at the same time in Sweden, according to the National Board of Health and Welfare. In intensive care, there have been a total of at most 558 covid patients at the same time; It happened around April 25, according to the Swedish intensive care registry.
The increase in cases of new diseases appears to be stabilizing in certain regions, including Västra Götaland. However, it is not entirely clear whether the reduced rate of increase is due to less spread of infection or the rate of testing.
– We have tried to delve into that and we do not believe that the limited availability of tests played a role, but it is very difficult to tell, says Anders Tegnell.
