67 new deaths reported in Sweden

State epidemiologist Anders Tegnell says in the SVT live stream that the curve is still fairly stable, meaning that the pressure on healthcare remains high in various parts of the country.

Weekends were difficult to interpret

Since yesterday, 67 new deaths have been reported, which is slightly less than in recent days, but Anders Tegnell believes it is likely due to the fact that today is a holiday.

– During the weekends, the figures are very difficult to interpret, he says.

“Stockholm dominates less”

The state epidemiologist talks about the move from Stockholm to the rest of the country.

– Stockholm is no longer as dominant in the number of cases and deaths, but the level is more stable. Other cases are seen in other parts of the country, says Anders Tegnell.

Collect samples

However, it is difficult for him to identify any particular region that is particularly prone to increased infection.

– The number of cases in various Swedish regions is very small and this means that the figures are not easy to interpret, he says.

Tegnell mentions things that can be recorded, such as sometimes collecting samples from several days and running them in the laboratory for only one day. But if you want to gain experience from other countries, it is the densely populated metropolitan regions that have had the most problems.

– So it can be worrying in Västra Götaland and the Skåne region.
