The 60-year-old woman suspected of causing riots in Rosengård after the burning of the Koran in Malmö in late August has been detained. She is suspected of inciting violent disturbances, Sydsvenskan reports.

– I can say that my client denies the crime. But I can’t say much more about the preliminary investigation at this point. She is currently in detention, her defense attorney Anders Olsson tells Kvällsposten.

According to police suspicions, the riots in Rosengård were driven by people traveling there, as only four of the 14 people suspected of violent disturbances come from that area.

The 60-year-old was one of those who traveled there, something aftonbladet previously reported.

Prosecutor Tomas Olvmyr, who is leading the investigation, is still silent on the details.

“I do not comment on whether anyone is currently detained,” he wrote in an email to TT.

The violent riots in Rosengård took place after the burning of the Koran and an unauthorized demonstration at Stortorget in Malmö. The police took three Danes from the square, suspected of inciting an ethnic group after kicking the Koran.

Anti-Semitic slogans were also shouted during the riots, which police are investigating as incitement against ethnic groups.
