Skåne has so far fared better than Stockholm and Västra Götaland in the crown pandemic.
The regional council believes the explanation is the harsh steps that were taken quickly:

Since the first covid case was recorded in Sweden on January 31 of this year, 42 coronary deaths have been recorded in Skåne. This can be compared to Stockholm, where 897 people have died.
Carl Johan Sonesson, chairman of the regional board in Skåne, believes that there is a milder development in Skåne, as visitors were quickly excluded from all hospitals and that many Skåne municipalities immediately followed with a ban on visits to the care of elderly.
– That we did not have people going in and out of nursing homes, personally I think that made a big difference. Not everyone knows if they have symptoms, he says.

Culture and dental care
But they also chose to close cultural activities such as the opera and dance theater in Malmö, when the number of visitors according to the Public Health Authority no longer allowed more than 500 people.
– Many people adapted and had agreements with 499 people, but we closed completely.
Sonesson also notes that all popular dental care was quickly discontinued, except for the most urgent and active active infection monitoring, and that the flight at Danish Kastrup, which is used by many Malmö residents, stopped before Arlanda.
In Skåne, a multi-language advertising campaign has also been carried out on buses and trains, and the Malmö municipal housing company has informed 60,000 households about the coronavirus.

But also because the Public Health Authority declared from the beginning that everyone would do what they could to limit the spread of the infection.

In Stockholm, large, foreign-born congested areas, such as Rinkeby and Tensta, have been hit hard. Similar areas are also found in Skåne, for example Rosengård in Malmö.
In Skåne, such a trend has yet to be seen, according to ongoing reports that Carl Johan Sonesson receives from the region’s infection control doctor.
The regional council points out that nobody knows yet if the worst is over or if there is more waiting. The signal from the responsible authorities has been that Skåne may be a few weeks after Stockholm in the pandemic.
One explanation highlighted why Swedish regions have been affected so differently has been about the week that sports holidays fell, as the initial cases were strongly linked to skiing in Italy.
Skåne had a sports vacation a week before Stockholm. Perhaps the spread of contagion in ski resorts would not have been as extensive then, the theory says.
Winter break infection
Stockholm Regional Council Irene Svenonius (M) believes that a great explanation lies there. During the Stockholm leave, the infection exploded in Italy.

Perhaps the fact that Stockholm is a larger and more densely populated city may also have played a role.

– But we will have to analyze this time later. For example, could we have detected the outbreak in the Järvafield field earlier? We now have information in 26 different languages.
